Poor communication at this facility!! As a new family coming into a daycare this was an AWFUL first experience. With no prior experience or knowledge or how daycare operate I had expected to sit down with the director and have been informed with how this daycare is ran, how I will be billed and so forth. I WAS NOT, I was given a stack of papers and was told nothing. I had expressed that I wouldn’t need full time as I didn’t have a set schedule at my workplace and they said that was fine and to let them know when my child would be at the facility. After 2 weeks from my child’s “start date”, my child had been there once. I received a statement for $300+... I was NEVER told that even if my child is not there that I am still paying everyday. As a new parent and new to this I was never told or have ever heard of this even after telling the director that I was only needed part time care! I am beyond frustrated with how awful this situation has been handled and how they treat new families. Do NOT expect people to know how you run your business without CLEARLY explaining everything. For the papers I was given, no were did it clearly state that I was to pay no matter if my child is there. And for the facility it’s self, I was underwhelmed. My child was there for only 3 days and out of the 3 days, 2 days my child came home with cuts or bruises that were never explained when I asked about them. This is a warning to new families, you will NOT have a friendly sit down go over with anyone there, nothing will be explained by them. The director didn’t have to time to even say more than a few words to me when I came for a “tour” which wasn’t even given. When I finally got in contact with the director to question my statement she didn’t have the time to talk to me face to face about my issue, as I spoke to her on the phone it was a very onsided conversation as she seemed to busy for my issue with her facility. This issue has not been resolved even though this was a very large mistake as a communication error for them.

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. The Main Street location is utterly awful. Their director claims to be Circle of Security trained, but her staff clearly are not. Our child was constantly faced with discipline, instructions, and general engagement that show no understanding of Attachment Theory whatsoever. One time he was crying at nap time because he wanted his stuffed dog and was told to stop crying or he couldn’t have it. He’s autistic. Yet we were constantly told he loved daycare and always had good days. He was masking. And everyday fought tooth and nail, sometimes for 2 hours, to not go to daycare. He was scared of his teachers and how they treated him. The daycare repeatedly refused to accommodate his disability, even after having joint meetings between us, his OT, and the director. They held him back in age inappropriate programming because they were unwilling to make the necessary changes to accommodate our child’s actual needs and developmental delays. The director also doesn’t answer emails promptly—sometimes never does, ignores you when you ask hard questions, lies about her intentions or actions, and gaslights you about your child’s experiences. Some of what happened to our child there qualifies as child abuse and I am shocked they still have a license to operate. Ultimately when we complained too loudly they kicked our kids out. Didn’t even give them the chance to say goodbye to their friends. With our older child they lied to him about why he had to clean out his locker. The abrupt and sudden cutoff of peer relationships and relationships with educators constitutes a major attachment rupture (which is by definition traumatic). But again, they seem to have no understanding of child development or attachment. Don’t send your kids here. They will encounter harm. And if you have a school aged kid and have no other choice, their railroad location is decent. But that’s because they have decent educators. They are good despite their incompetent director. Main Street is horrible. Don’t trust your child into their care under any circumstance. All this is coming from me, my experience with my children in their programs, my partner’s experience as former staff at the Main Street location and what she witnessed first hand, my perspective as a licensed mental health professional who specializes in trauma, and my experience as a former board member (I resigned because of their director’s unethical conduct). Thankfully our kids found new care less than 13 hours from being booted from here. For less money, at an attachment and trauma informed licensed centre. It was a blessing in disguise. Oh? And don’t bother talking to their board chair. She doesn’t care about parent concerns. I complained to her about their director and then got kicked out. Busy Nest, or Morris Early Learning is an all around toxic organization that should be shut down and replaced. We need childcare in our society. But what they do shouldn’t qualify as care.
